The escalation of threats to the security of the general public (military and civilian) at a global level highlights the need to develop more efficient and versatile technological solutions for the protection and defense of human beings. Protection against chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological agents (NBQR) emerges in this context as an area of added relevance with a margin of marked progression in terms of the possibility of developing new technologies and products in this area.
With the PluriProtech project, the aim is to develop an innovative solution against NBQR agents, based on an active multilayer system capable of acting as a barrier and simultaneously as an element of degradation of harmful agents, maximizing the level of protection without compromising the comfort provided to the user. This solution will be based on an additive textile substrate using polymeric coatings functionalized with nanoparticles (NPs) of metal oxides (for example: TiO2, ZnO, Ag2O, CaO and even graphene nanoparticles), capable of establishing themselves as active barriers to this type of threats, with a special focus on chemical and biological threats.
